Google Bad Review: I saw great reviews and contacted them about a job to install drip edge on some guttering and some new flashing to a section of our Victorian house/slate roof.
They wanted £150 +VAT for the site visit in order to quote, saying it would be deducted from work carried out. When I politely asked for some idea of their rates for labour, they ghosted me completely.
So essentially, they expected me to pay out £150 +VAT without having any insight into what the job might end up costing, even when extensive details about the job were shared. They should probably ask themselves if they'd accept this behaviour from a contractor that they'd engage for work on their own houses.
Not one other contractor tried to extort money out of us for a site visit, and we ended up using a different company who did everything we asked at a very fair price.
