Google Bad Review 1: Booked car for inspection.
They informed me it would cost £60 agreed thinking the car would be properly checked.

When İ took car, a person came out İ told him about the problem and without checking he was adamant that the brake pads/disks needed replacing.

Within a minute without checking that was his diagnosis. He then spent a further few minutes with useless info.

Spent 5 minutes, didnt examine car and charged me £60. İ stupidly paid and left.

İ wouldnt have minded if at least he had examined the car.

First and last time here.

Google Bad Review (2): After reading very positive reviews online, I thought I would take my Audi TTS to Russell Automotive Centre (RAC) to fix a problem I had with my brakes. Unfortunately, my experience was anything but positive.

I had developed a fault with the brake servo (which I had checked by an independent mechanic) and was advised to get it fixed by an Audi specialist. I proceeded to call RAC on Saturday morning and told them I am pretty sure the brake servo needs replacing and asked what their indicative fee would be to replace this. With the usual caveats already relayed to me, I was given an indicative price of £650-700.

2 days later, I dropped my car off to RAC and in fairness, their customer service was initially very professional. We agreed that they would carry out a diagnostic test to confirm the problem and there would be a fee for that. I confirmed I was happy with this. An hour later, I received a call from the service adviser and was met with the usual “I have bad news”. After much to-ing and fro-ing, the adviser confirmed what I already suspected; that the brake servo needed replacing and unfortunately as it is “such a big job” the fee would be over £1,200 in total!!!!!!!! After I managed to pick up my jaw from the floor and queried why the price was almost double what we had discussed, I was given all sorts of excuses; eventually they agreed to lower the price to around £1,000.

In the end, I took my Audi to another Audi specialist nearby and the work was done for just over £750. The point of my review is not to unfairly criticise RAC, but my experience was the antithesis of what other reviewers had been through and I thought it important to provide a balanced review. I, for one, will avoid them in the future!
