Google Bad Review 1: I would give no stars if I could my experience nearly ruined my wedding, we waited 2 years having postponed our wedding once due to the pandemic.
BR one was a recommended by Wed2b, unfortunately our wedding was cancelled in 2020 and before we knew if and when we might rebook, I was refused a refund, even though no alterations had been carried out.
I had my ticket to prove I had paid in full, but I had to argue the case for 20 minutes before the owner suddenly produced the other half of my ticket and agreed to do the work “free of charge” next year.
It's not “free of charge” as I had paid £180 for alterations, and steam cleaning.
I had a 1st fitting and both the owner and seamstress
were very accommodating and helpful, I left the dress to be altered.
The alterations were made and I came back for a 2nd fitting and to take away if ready.
My dress was heavily beaded up top and tulle from the waist down, very floaty- 2 top layers of tulle with multiple silk layers underneath this, at my 2nd fitting- the length appeared correct, and I was (initially) happy and took the dress away, I did not question the work as I was (intitally) delighted with the length. My wedding was 2 weeks away.
Once home, I was felt incredibly disappointed, on closer inspection, the 2 top layers of tulle had been hacked into, very poor, I was so disappointed with the work, I re trimmed the tulle, so I didn't have to look at the jagged material.
The night before my wedding, I was re-stitching the alterations to the straps, also poorly completed, beads missing, stitching was poor.
Finally, included in the £180, it was mentioned they would steam clean after, they didn't.
In conclusion, If you would like to pay someone else £180 to complete the work for you and then have to do it yourself, this is the place to go!
I was so disappointed/ upset/ angry, but I knew having left the shop (initially) pleased, I would get nowhere with a complaint, nor a refund from my previous experience of the owner during the pandemic.
I will be contacting Wed2b where I purchased my dress and explaining my experience, as they recommended BR one when purchasing my dress.

Google Bad Review (2): I would love to rate this place higher but unfortunately my experience wasn't amazing. The staff overall were nice (until the last appointment where they were rushing me out of the shop) but there is a definite language barrier. All of the seamstresses spoke Turkish apart from the main guy in charge and another lady who does some of the alterations. This just meant that most of the time, I had to tell someone who could speak English what I wanted and they would inform the seamstress who was with me doing the fitting.
The other issue was that the person doing the Dress fitting, wasn't always the person doing the sewing. The lady who spoke English admitted to me they had to fire one seamstress as she wasn't very good which explained some of the terrible sewing my dress received but not all of it!
I had a dress made of Mikado Silk (a common material at wed2b where I brought my dress) and it needed the top half of the dress changing from a size 10 to a size 8. The hip area needed a tiny bit of excess material tapered in ever so slightly. I also needed a belt to be added.
The alterations to the hip area when first done were very obvious. You could see exactly where they had taken the dress in. They redid this and then that area was better.
The seam and material under my arms leading to my hips never lay flat as it should. It always look wrinkled and I was told on a number of occasions that it was just the material, even though the dress didn't start like this before alterations! It was really obvious when you looked at the dress but they kept brushing off my concerns. On the last appointment, the lady was going to sort this bit for me but instead they just zipped up my dress and rushed me out the shop. I was left with a mediocre dress 3 wks before my wedding! I then had to go to another seamstress to get this fixed.
The seamstress's at BR One had also added the belt after the first fitting even though the alterations for making the upper half of the dress smaller hadn't been finished, which meant the belt had to removed multiple times. This lead to the belt being sewn on wonky many times as they just guessed as to where it should go. In the end they asked me to place the belt where I thought it should go and when I tried it on for the final time, it still wasn't straight.
They also told me that my dress couldn't be bustled due to the shape of the train. However, when I went to the second seamstress, she did a ‘waterfall' effect bustle where you have a button on the outside of the dress and a small elastic hook to attach the train to it. So it gathers on top of the dress rather than underneath.
I appreciate altering wedding dresses is not an easy job, however my dress had a lot of poor hand sewing, which the second seamstress showed me. We could actually pull a lot of it apart!! No-one wants to be able to literally pull their wedding dress apart! I am also aware I may seem like a bridezilla but I wasn't asking for the moon, just a dress that didn't look like my niece had sewn it!
And to top it off they claimed when I first booked the dress in to be altered that the price included dry cleaning and steaming which definitely didn't happen.
I know a lot of people have had good experiences at this shop but unfortunately on this occasion, it wasn't a great one for me.
If you have a Mikado silk dress with any whole resizing alterations, I would avoid this place.
