Google Bad Review (2):  A resident broke a key in the entry lock of our block of flats some years ago. We asked them to change the perfectly standard lock.
I needed a new key recently and popped into a local locksmith who said thay were'nt able to cut the key as it was a key unique to Totteridge locks. I paid three pounds for a replacement for the matching lock to the lobby and went to Totteridge locks for the other.
“Certainly” I can cut the key, they said, they are £14.99 each.
They could ask for £50 a key and you have no alternative but to pay. Its a breach of trust for a so-called expert to treat an unsuspecting customer in this way.
Three keys would have cost me £45 as against the ‘open key for the outer door which I got three for £9.
Use this firm with caution. If they give you a lock with a key with their name on it, walk away.
I'm changing the lock and we'll never use them again.
In response to the reply to my original comment, at no time was I asked for any ID so as far as security is concerned its a no no. The building didn't exist 20 years ago.
I bought a new lock for £10 and extra keys for £3.50 each at Barnet Lock in High road. Cost me less that the three quoted keys (whether £14.99 0r £14.95).
