Appointed repairers for my insurance company for a temporary fix, which I understand.

Sadly I wasn’t there when they arrived, my wife had to deal with them.

Their roofer was here for ~13 mins, spent 7 mins on the roof itself and from the inside all I can see is a load of mastic with gaps in so not even water tight, I could still push the roof up easily by hand as could the wind.

When speaking to the owner of the company he said his “engineer” was here for about an hour and couldn’t do anymore, when I checked the CCTV and explained how long he had in fact been here, he then told me that he’d seen the images of what had been done and he couldn’t have done anymore, I asked what he could’ve done in such a short amount of time?

Then said he’d wait to see the images before he says anything else; I thought he’d seen the images already so as to know nothing more could be done? He then said the timbers were rotten and so they couldn’t do anything else.

I asked why he couldn’t have simply put some larger screws in with washers, he responded with “he might not have had any bigger screws than 2inch (a roofing company?) and that he wouldn’t have been able to go to a shop to get some and even if they had “but then water will get in past the washer”, it would be a lot better than what I have now!!

Became very confrontational and said I could have his techs number to “have it out with him”, was a waste of time talking to them as he made it clear from the outset they had no intent to return.

Wouldn’t trust them with one screw and a tube of mastic, let alone replacing a roof.

Google Bad Review (2):  We used Ray Jones Roofing (reg office at 73 Southlands Road,
Bromley, Kent, BR2 9QT) to repair a leak in our house in Wimbledon. We asked for a warranty over the diagnosis over his work but none was given. Roy was aggresive and threatened to come over, tresspass and remove tiles from our roof without permission to access the property. We found him very friendly before payment and disappointingly aggresive and unhelpful afterwards. In the end we just paid him to avoid further threats. I would recommend avoiding.

This was the only meaningful action in nearly two weeks between the initial quote and the moment when we told them not to bother any more. Google Bad Review 1:  Arranged a roof inspection to get an estimate for repairs but it got cancelled last minute. Sent a text to the roofer to check it was still going ahead and he replied that he couldn't make it and will be in touch to reschedule. Still haven't heard from him a week later. Pretty sure he wasn't gonna contact me to say he couldn't make it. Super unprofessional, wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Google Bad Review (2):  1 star doesn't apply to quality of their work. they didn't even bother to show up. Called a few times and was told someone would be round same day but no one showed up and no one called to tell me otherwise.

Fair enough it was a weekend and short notice. Called again and was told the following day. Was around all day and nothing again. no one showed up and no one called. Still haven't heard anything so decided to go with another company.
