Google Bad Review 1: While searching for a local chiropractor to treat my lower back pain and elbow tendinitis, I located (Dr. Greg) Lewis Family Chiropractic and Wellness Center. I was impressed with their 4.8 star rating. However,
had I read through Bethany Offutt's
review, dated 11 months ago, I probably
would have researched some more doctors before choosing the first one I saw on the internet. I just turned 65, and I am currently on Medicare. “Dr. Greg” told me emphatically that my insurance didn't cover any chiro-
practic services, except for manual therapy. I found out later that other chiropractors in the area offered traction, which is covered by Medicare. I also believed him when he told
me that acupuncture wasn't really effective. I later read that it significantly benefits pain
management, inflammation, and healing.
Dr. Greg viewed my spinal MRI, but only a medical doctor, not a chiropractor, is trained
to analyze it. He offered to treat my herniated L-5 spinal column disc with my tendinitis with
no additional charge, but for a whopping $3780.00. The plan included SpineMed, 2 soft tissue laser treatments, spinal manipulation,
excercises, and vibration. However, three
things angered me. While in the office manager’s office, I discovered an almost unforgivable math error of $810 in the quote. Then, after Dr. Lewis was made aware of it, he didn’t want to include the tendinitis treatment until I refused to sign up without it. He tried to even charge me for the initial consultation which was supposed to be free.
During the first few visits, I discontinued the $30 daily fee to be merely supervised for
performing excercises that I could do at home, free of charge. I cut out the vibration therapy of $15 per usage, too, which
consisted of standing on top of a vibrating base for a 2-3 minutes. After 10 treatments, I decided to cancel 3 days later as I wasn’t getting any better. In fact, I was getting worse, with more lower back pain and a new pain in both of my thighs that hasn’t subsided for the last 2 weeks. The tenderness in my right elbow is now more severe, also. I wasted $1600, so I asked Jessica, the office manager, but futilely, for a partial refund which was promptly refused. My only recompense was to write this review so as to caution others before they make a major financial decision that they might regret. I am currently seeing an acupuncturist. I may also seek out another chiropractor to complete my recovery.
I have recently contacted a couple of local chiropractors who offered me traction, therapeutic excercises, and manual manipulation for only $20-$30 per visit with Medicare paying for the rest.

Google Bad Review (2): If you are searching for an honest, ethical and knowledgeable chiropractor – Keep looking. I am currently being seen at Carroll Chiropractor and Sports Injury Center and they are FANTASTIC!! The insurance process was easy and efficient and I was explained every expense prior to starting treatment. So let me tell you the differences between the two practices and why I would avoid Lewis Family Chiropractic.
I came in for my initial visit. Filled out all of my paperwork and gave them my insurance information. I was told that nothing would be covered until I hit my deductible and I would owe them $129.00 for todays visit. I told them I was not prepared for that and would have to reschedule. I had not seen a chiropractor before and did not look into benefits prior to coming in. They told me that they would still see me, but would write it off as a free consultation. So he took me back.. Did HALF of an exam and told me to get an MRI and come back for the rest of the exam. Then sent me on my way. Two weeks later I get a bill for 30.00 (copay that they failed to collect due to unknowledgeable front desk staff) and billed my insurance for the rest. It was a complete scam, misleading and unethical to tell someone it was being written off as a free consultation and then bill out for it anyways. I have absolutely no clue where they got the $129.00 from prior to offering the free consultation.. The free consultation that wasn’t actually free. Keep in mind – He did not even complete a full exam. As a side note.. The office is outdated, messy and everything seems to be in disarray.. Even down to the front desk deciding what they want to charge people on a whim.
Let’s fast forward to Carroll Chiropractic and Sports Injury Center. I entered online for a promotion and got accepted.. It was 27.00 TOTAL for my standard radiographs and a FULL exam (They did NOT suggest an MRI – Totally unnecessary for my symptoms.) No hidden fees or scams. Every appointment thereafter has been 30.00 co-pay. The office operates like a well oiled machine. The staff is friendly, concise and Dr. Bennett is a wonderful doctor to work with and very knowledgeable.
