Google Bad Review 1:  Told I needed a crown for a simple filling which fell out. Decided to trust her word and get it done. When the temporary filling fell out, she was unavailable for a week, while I called every day, walking around with a hole in my mouth. Turns out she actually was in the practice, but was too keen to leave every day at 5pm to provide basic care to her customers.

Also told I needed a filling on another tooth for a superficial spot of decay. Saw another dentist about this who advised this is an out of date practice – superficial decay can recover and is best left to heal until it becomes a problem. Now I suspect the crown was also overkill to hand out a larger bill.

I was also advised to get a splint, which would cost £900 – the “Rolls Royce” of splints (how very professional…). Another dentist advised that this can be done for £450. Not the same “Rolls Royce” – but they at least provide a more affordable option.

Takes ages to get appointments – don't expect anything for 2 weeks. Receptionist seems to think she runs the practice.

Bottom line is this place is run as a business, not a health care facility. Private patients are subsidising care for students, but don't expect any better service for your hard earned money – you're just a number in their books, and they're going to try making that number as large as possible.

Google Bad Review (2):  charged as emergency patient £59 for showing up 8 minutes late to my appointment that lasted 8 minutes, paying £11 per x-ray for the NHS referral which they couldn't make because i am their private patient, and then had to pay another £15 just to have the x-ray datas. this £85 is spent for never coming back to this place again. thank you for your service.

Google Bad Review (2):  I have been with St John's dental practice since a child (I'm 39 now) as have my whole family. I had never had a problem up until today.

I unfortunately had to cancel my appointment as my wife was unable to watch the kids due to last minute work commitments and i explained to Karen that I understand it was short notice but I was happy to pay the full amount as a penalty and reschedule.

Karen was extremely insensitive to the situation and proceeded to threaten me with the prospect of having to find a new dentist as other NHS patients are waiting.

When I explained I was sorry for the short notice but would expect some understanding as we are all in the same boat with school closures i was met with an attacking accusation that I had missed a staggering ten prior appointments.

I will acknowledge that I had previously cancelled some appointments due to mental health and last year due to coronavirus my appointments were cancelled by the dentist and as my wife and i had to shield but at no point will I agree that I have cancelled ten appointments unless she is counting within the 39 years of my life.

If you suffer with your health, anxiety or generally are a unwell person beware that Karen won't stand for your cancelled appointments, including making decisions for the dentist on whether they will want to see you again.

I ended the phone call telling Karen to leave it. I will unfortunately have to find a new dentist it seems.

Edit: this review is in no way a reflection of the dentists or nurses that work here. As previously stated, I have never had an issue with anyone before today's phone call with Karen.

Google Bad Review 1:  I called today to make an appointment and the receiption has been unplesant on the call. they told me that they increased the price almost twofold just for a simple check-up.. they also told me that this is because of the pandemnic and because they now have 400 people on the waiting list. The call was very unpleasant. I have no symphasy for doctors who are taking advantage of patients because of the pandemnic. I note that in the response below the owner mentined £30 increase. Well the Smilepod only increased the same fee by £10 which seems fair as far as PPE is concerned – they charged £69 and now they charge £79. Your receptionist gave a very negative wibe and was standoffish: “our fees are on the website. we have 400 people on the waiting list” Who talks like this at the receiption?? You are going to scare your clients off. I have been coming to your clinic for 15 years but after talking to your receptionist (new?) I am going to seek treatment elsewhere – which I already did today actually.

On my way to clinic I missed call from them, tried to call back like 2min later and guess what-there was no one inn already. So just called me 20min before appt saying that it is cancelled,as I couldnt answer straight away they send me text and all left home…knowing that I will show up within few minutes…

Google Bad Review (2):  My experience of this surgery was DISTRESSING and HORRIBLE.
Hayes Dental published private but also untrue information about me on a public forum.
Hayes Dental then refused to address to my complaint preferring to threaten me with legal action instead. I felt extremely bullied by them so I was forced to go to 2 regulators.
The INFORMATION COMMISSIONERS OFFICE felt that the surgery was acting illegally. They have insisted that all staff at Hayes Dental attend mandatory training which must be routinely tested and refreshed.

THE GENERAL DENTAL COUNCIL
1)Issued guidance to Hayes Dental reminding them of their responsibilities on social media.
2)Told the practice that they are obliged to “communicate effectively with patients”.
3)Told the practice that they must “maintain and protect patients information.”

If you chose to go to this horrible practice I truly hope that they treat you better than they did me.

Google Bad Review (2):  I was seen by Dr P Samra and I couldn't have experienced a worse consultation.

It very much seemed as though he had much better things to do than conduct a check up, especially as it was only satisfying his NHS quota. To have to ask a dentist to take you seriously as you outline your concerns isn't an attitude I'd expect from any individual working in the health industry, especially not one who apparently prides themselves on “helping their patients”.

Considering I booked this appointment out of significant concern for my teeth, he did not take it with a shred of seriousness and safe to say his cavalier attitude wore thin very quickly. I could tell he didn't spend much time without his attention shortening out whenever I began to speak and therefore did not take my anxiety towards the situation with the gravity it deserved. I quite literally had to stop him midway of his sentence and break down my worries to him with a fixed gaze. If I had not done this he would have sent me on my way with basic dental hygiene advice …. turns out my dental issues were a lot more serious.

Aside from his patronizing attitude and “zeal to prescribe” approach when suggesting procedure after procedure unnecessarily – the receptionist was nice.

That's all to be said about my experience with Dr. Samra, safe to say I will confidently spend my private procedure money else where (relevant to the fact that he continuously made a big point about what is not available on the NHS even though I never alluded to money being an issue).

Google Bad Review 1:  Dr Akram is an unprofessional dentist and I would not recommend attending this or the other puresmile branch in Fulham (I was treated at both).
I went as an NHS patient and they refused to clean my teeth and said this wasn’t offered even though he recommend I go and see their private hygenisit. He pushed me to pay for the most expensive crown on the market as it was ‘the best option with it being a back tooth and would last triple the time a normal crown would’. I went for this option, once completed he tried to charge me an extra £240+ On top of already paying an extra £900 for the crown, the £240+ was not explained when we went through everything beforehand.
The crown has not been fitted properly and huge lumps of food get stuck which I cannot even get out with a toothpick it has to be floss, so in result I have to carry around floss daily (this is over 7 months on and still having the issue) he refuses to rectify his bad workmanship.
What a waste of money.
Stay away from this dentist would be my advice.

Google Bad Review (2):  Sales man! For the same price I can get far better treatment in Harley street. I had a hunch when I met the dentist (rest of staff are lovely including hygienist) but don't rely or trust the dentist. Honestly, I have had enough treatment and his was substandard/prolonged including a ludicrous quote of what was unnecessary treatment despite me explaining circumstances. Having worked in finance for long enough with sales people I should have trusted my instincts. I have now come to my senses having giving one chance at treatment and gone back to Harley St! Don't fall for it! And at least I have done my bit and warned you.
