Google Reviewer 1, Name (Bad Review): Ayesha Karimi
Google Bad Review 1: As can be seen by my Google reviews, I rarely write negative reviews, but unfortunately I have to do this for Complete Mortgages.
Over months I was asked the same information multiple times (to send payslips, bank statements etc) which delayed my application. But the reason I have ultimately chosen to write a negative review was a more recent encounter. I spoke with Emily Probert about a query. I was sent a form saying a solicitor had to witness the signature on it. As this was the first time I had come across such a specific requirement, I asked Emily about this who said “No, anyone can witness it as long as they are over 18 and not related to you”. I asked Emily if she was sure, as the form specifically said a solicitor and even asked which firm the solicitor worked at. I did not want this to delay my application. Emily went back and forth with a colleague Vicky before handing the phone to her. Vicky’s behaviour was poor – she started off continuously interrupting anything I was saying and was unexpectedly rude and abusive. It was out of nowhere and I have not had someone speak in this manner over the phone before, so I explained that I was ringing from a work phone and that all calls were recorded. To this, Vicky got very defensive and within seconds shut the phone on me. Presuming Vicky did not expect that the call was automatically recorded and tried to escape liability.
I spoke to the bank as well as my solicitors, who confirmed that yes, a solicitor had to sign the form or I would have to declare in writing that I did not want to seek legal advice about the form. Had I listened to what Complete Mortgages advised, my form would have “not been accepted at all”.
I raised this issue with Mark Finnegan, the director at Complete Mortgages hoping that future customers are told accurate information. His response included, “Regarding your Google review, the funny thing is that we have actually had more enquiries off the internet in the last month than we have ever had – so it appears to have done us a favour. Maybe a 4.9 rating looks more realistic than a 5.0 rating.”
I am lost for words at the response, but it does explain this company's ethos. Not only did he avoid addressing the behaviour of his employees and multiple issues in his company, he also tried to brag about how great his business was doing.
Overall, unprofessional and uninformed people who avoid accountability.

Responding to the owner's response below.
You have avoided addressing Vicky or Emily’s actions and are evading taking accountability for obviously wrong information told to me. I even tried to give your company a second chance because maybe it was a one-off incident, however the behaviour of your staff as well as how you have dealt with the issue has made me choose to go elsewhere.
Here are some examples of the emails I have referred to:
– In March 2020, your employee asked for the name and DOB of my dependent as well as how long I lived at my current address, to which I replied with the info. Later on in March, I get another email asking for my dependent’s name and DOB, as well as date I moved in to my current address
– In March 2020, I was asked me for my proof of address which I sent and in June 2020 I get another email asking for the same proof of address
– In June 2020, your employee asked for my husband’s name, DOB, mobile and email, which I replied to and in Aug 2020 I was yet again asked my husband’s full name and DOB
All this going back and forth for the same information delayed my application. This is on top of getting my name wrong in the Memorandum of Sale in March 2017, to which your employee's email response said “these details are trivial.”
Your staff behaved unprofessionally. Your employee could not organise crucial documents and information. Your response “In summary, I can’t actually see what we have done wrong here” summarises your defensiveness in the situation. I hope no one else is dealt with the way I was by your company.
