Google Bad Review 1:  It seems that this page has glowing reviews. But my experience at Vamos was really quite disappointing. I am going to write a review based on my experience.
A little about myself. I am a year and a half into learning Spanish. I have taken another alternative route to Vamos. Vamos school was my first attempt at learning Spanish, besides dabbing in the occasional YouTube video, and I will say at this stage my Spanish was at beginner level. I have some experience with other languages, and I know from learning in the past, I am a really literal learner. Everything needs to be explained to me, I don't just learn by hearing something, the structure needs to be explained to me, I need to take the time to learn, or else its all too rushed and the material won't stick.

I enrolled for the most basic beginner course available. In general the course was way too rushed, poorly structured and the class was really left alone too many times to practice Spanish with other beginners/students which really was a waste of time because we would just learn to pronounce things poorly. Things should of been explained better and in much more detail. I would of hoped the teacher could take charge of the class and give us solid basic foundations, but it just didn't happen.

The teacher would say something, and not explain how to pronounce it properly. She really skimmed over the material very quickly, then it was our turn to say it. Once a word was said in the class, it really was automatically assumed you knew how to say the word and there was no explanation on how to use the word, in what context or anything like that. It was basically like we were treated like parrots, made to repeat everything that was said. Really I could learn more from youtube as they would explain words and sentences better than the teacher I had.

You really need to nail the foundations when learning a language. The basics. We went over personal pronouns for honestly maybe one minute. If you have some Spanish understanding you'll know what I'm talking about, pronouns like yo(I), tu(You), ella(She), el(He), nostoros(we), vosotros(you plural), ellos(they), and for to be SER(to be) and ESTAR(to be), again, we went over this material for no more than five minutes. Nothing was emphasised at all how important these things were to learn!!!! I did majority of the course not even understanding the concepts of personal pronouns or ESTAR or SER at all. I really would of expected at a beginner course these things would of been taught as solid foundations, but they were not at all. I can see that now in hindsight because I had to take other methods to learn Spanish, and I am glad I didn't give up after Vamos, because I would not had learnt a thing.

Also, the teachers English was not great great, which I can excuse slightly, but I will say she was not engaging at all, and the book material they give you is horrible. It was like being in school again, getting black and white printouts with really bad photocopies pictures that really are for children.

I do not recommend Vamos school for anyone who is serious about learning Spanish, you could do this course and want to give up because its majorly frustrating and poorly structured.

As mentioned, I am still learning Spanish. After this course, I decided to take another options and they have all been online. For the price i paid to do this course, I ended up buying Fluenz Spanish, and that course alone is way better than what I ever learnt at Vamos. Ive also used apps like Cat Spanish and Duolingo to help me learn further, and tutorials on YouTube are really amazing. And all these methods are for free.

Im not here to sell you anything, you can decide what method you want to take, this is based on my personal experience at Vamos. Learning in a classroom environment didn't work for me at all. I have learnt so much more by learning by a program online and free apps that you can download.

I hope this review has helped. I really think if your serious about learning Spanish, consider learning online, its way better from my experience.

Google Bad Review (2):  Despite being charged the the full cost of a intensive course, only half the promised number of hours were delivered. I was refused a refund for the remainder; the only offer they gave (and not even this initially) was alternative classes at a time I was unable to attend (so had not chosen in the first place). This happened both in Level 2 and Level 4. (I gave them a second chance because Russell said that the course would go ahead if there were 4 people in the class; there were 4 people in the class, but he still halved the hours without halving the cost). Extremely disappointed.
