Google Bad Review 1: I had the worst experience dealing with London Car rentals (LCR), Wembley.
We wanted to book a car for 2 days so I went to LCR to inquire. The gentleman sitting at the counter quoted me GBP 120 for 2 days. I told him my friend will visit LCR the next day and place a deposit to book the car. Around the same time my friend called LCR just to inquire about the price and she was quoted GBP 190 for the same car. I told my friend that I got a quote for GBP 120, and the same price was advertised on their website. So she went the next day and mentioned about me visiting them and then she booked the car by placing the deposit from her credit card. Now when I went to pay the GBP 120 they said that my friend who called had agreed for GBP 190 which is a complete lie. I told them how is it possible when you quoted me GBP 120 for the same car when I visited you personally and I had also mentioned that next day my friend will come and place the deposit.
Now this is when its get interesting….
The same guy who quoted me GBP 120 tells me that he doesn't know anything and we have to pay GBP 190 if we want the car. I was shocked and told him there must have been an misunderstanding on their part, but instead of solving the matter they were more rude towards me and told me if you want the car then you have to pay GBP 190 else we will cancel the booking. I was surprised by their behaviour and told them that I will write a review about my experience, that's when they said go do what you want, we don't care. I was completely hurt by witnessing such an unprofessional and rude behaviour towards me.

Google Bad Review (2): TOO LONG, DIDN’T READ (TL;DR) – No communication from London Car Rentals regarding late deposit return and charged an extortionate admin fee of £41 despite previous agreement that this would not be the case.
FULL STORY:
I had rented a van on the 29th December 2020 for a property move and the vehicle received was fine, fit for purpose albeit a little dirty and I had returned the next day, one hour late and incurred a late charge. This was fair as this was in the agreement and after phoning London Car Rentals to advise them that I was stuck in traffic and will be late, they pre-warned that this would be the case.
What happens with the deposit handling is completely unacceptable.
I am waiting for my deposit return of £229 (odd number due to the late charge). Normally, deposit returns with other rental companies have been prompt and within 10 days. As London Car Rentals was a new company, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited one month before chasing.
Fast forward to 25th January, I had phoned London Car Rentals and queried where my deposit is. Salim had answered and advised that they were holding my deposit as they had received a penalty charge notice (PCN) for this rental.
There are two things wrong with this –
1) Why was I not told earlier?
2) Why did it take me chasing London Car Rentals to find this out?
My guess is because this is no impetus for LCR to let me know of this situation, total lack of customer service.
For those reading, the process for PCNs received whilst hiring a vehicle is as follows:
1) Rental company receives PCN from Council as a result of the hirer driving.
2) Rental company should email the Council to transfer liability of PCN to the hirer
3) Hirer then pays or challenges the PCN
This was seamless experience with Kendall Cars (another vehicle leasing company) for my first PCN in this move-out period and they charged a £20 admin fee for processing – a fair amount as they initiated contact with the Council, phoned me to let me know of the situation within 10 days of the rental return and dealt with the situation very promptly and professionally. The PCN was then waived by Woking Council.
Shout out to both Kendall Cars and Woking Borough Council for dealing with the situation well.
Back to London Car Rentals.
I had phoned London Car Rentals to advise them of the process and that I have an email chain with Woking Council as I was in contact, and LCR needed to respond to the email to transfer the liability (shouldn't they be advising me of what to do?).
LCR advised I will be charged an admin fee of £41; I had challenged this with Ali and explained the situation and it was agreed that the admin fee, in this case, would not be charged. Great news (If anything, I should charge London Car Rentals with an admin fee for doing all the work for them!)
Even the Council said that the admin fee is more than the PCN itself and is dodgy.
Fast forward to Feburary 8th 2021, deposit return day.
I receive a notification that I received £188 refund… £41 less than expected.
It appears the admin fee was charged anyway, despite the verbal agreement with Ali that this would not be done. To top it off, they hadn't even responded to the email chain to process the PCN.
Phone recordings can be used in this case to highlight the company's incompetence/ false agreements.
To clarify to everyone reading, London Car Rentals charged their customer £41 for scanning a document and attaching it to an email (~5 minute job) that they didn’t even have, despite London Car Rentals previously promising that this will not be the case.
I phoned London Car Rentals to query the amount as I was promised full deposit return. Salim had answered, and aside from being interrupted every other sentence, I managed to tell him they were taking the piss to charge the admin fee despite not taking any action. ‘Taking the piss' is apparently foul language and Salim had threatened to hang up the phone for the foul language as we are adults.
LCR – terrible, avoid at all costs, my first and last time. Where is the full deposit?
