Google Bad Review (2): I have to say I would not recommend this company. I have thought long and hard about writing this review, however I feel many young people like myself may be a victim of being conned like i nearly did so may benefit from my review.
A month ago I needed an emergency electrician to come fix my electrics as the previous workers I had messed it up. Andrei was able to come over the same day which was a plus, however he was nothing more then interested in conning me and my partner. (maybe because he saw we was young adults and probably knew no better). Our initial conversation over telephone was he would not charge me if he was unable to get my electrics up and running. When he came over all he did was rip apart my fuse box to show he did some work, which actually all he did was take an old box apart which was no longer needed, then he kept saying my home needs rewiring without even actually doing a fault finding test. We even asked him to check our light wiring to see if it had been connected properly and he said yes which in fact they weren’t as my current electrics had found on their fault finding test. (Again this was another way of him trying to get us to rewire).
He then kept going on about how even if we paid him he would not provide a electrical certificate for the condition my electrics are in and his pretty sure no other company would. (Again trying to con me into rewiring as this is where the money is for electricians).
He then went to say he can get my electrics up and running but it will keep going off – he also tried sticking with my builders initial story of the leak in my loft which had messed up my electrics which in fact was not the case which we had determined from my current electricians.
He then went around my home saying every socket needs to be moved to comply with the new regulations. Little did he know I did my research and if it is a new build then for sure sockets and switches need to be positioned at a certain height, however if they are existing sockets then they can stay in their same position and be updated.
After him observing my home, he still charged me the £150 by saying he did work on the fuse box which in fact if you call taking off a box is work and charging £150 for it then I am in the wrong job. As he was about to leave he asked me and my partner how will we pay for the rewiring. The minute we said cash it is like his face lit up, so then he went onto say ‘thats good i won’t charge VAT’.
(The moment he saw my partner drives a nice car and we were willing to pay cash, and we have a big 3 bedroom property, I think this is the moment where he thought he hit a jackpot.)
After he left I was given the impression my 3 bedroom home did actually need rewiring as I have no knowledge on this and trusted Andrei’s word.
The following day, I called him to receive the quote for my rewiring and I was shocked to hear him say £20,000 for my 3 bedroom property. He also had the cheek to say ‘for you with discount I can do for £20,000’. I asked him how he got this figure as I had done a lot of research online and on average to rewire a 3 bedroom property is around 3-4k max 5k. He went on to say how he needs to make profit and he will have men in the house for 2 weeks and material is costing 6k. I was gobsmacked to hear him try and con me and my partner out of 20k and tell me material cost 6k which infact I did my research on material cost and he was trying to pay his workers 14k to split between them for a 2 week job.
At this point I knew he was trying to con me and my partner so I went and got two other quotes from two different certified companies. One company quoted me £3,330 fo my rewiring (like for like) including material. Now you can see the major difference.
The second company did the fault finding test as this is what they suggest before any rewiring. My electrics were up and running as this company was able to find the fault in two sockets. And all i needed to do was change my fuse box which in total cost me £400 and £150 for fault testing.
I am disgusted in Andrei’s behaviour!
