Google Bad Review:  I was told that I needed a root canal treatment however the dentist told me she did not feel confident to do it and suggested I should get it done by their private dentist. She made me feel like private was the only way to go. I was a student who did not have the money for private. I felt as if private was the only option for my root canal. So I told my dentist that I need more time to think because I don’t have that kind of money and she said okay. So I kept delaying my root canal.

However, now that I look back I realise how she made me feel like I had no choice but to go private. despite me telling her multiple times that I didn’t have money she didn’t bother reassuring me that I could still do it under NHS. However she made me feel like under the NHS it would not work. Additionally, she had told me her self that it is highly unlikely that my RCT would fail because it had just started. So she knew it wasn’t complicated. So why would I need to go private? All these questions I ask my self now but back then I wasn’t able to ask myself as I was new to it all and just worried about my teeth.

I now know people who work as dental nurses and they‘ve told me that it’s very common for dentists to do this. They’ve also told me that dentists unnecessarily encourage patients to spend huge amounts on dental treatments.

I completely understand that dental surgeries need money as they are a business however, take money from people who you know can afford it not university students who clearly don’t have money. What is the point of offering NHS treatments?? I bet that’s just the way for this surgery to attract more loyal customers.
I feel like I have been taken advantage of. Dentists are required to be honest and to act with integrity.

It angers me when I look back because I was so naive about it all. If this happens, just go see another dentist to get another opinion! There Will be a dentist out there that will be honest to you.
