Google Bad Review:  Ah, welcome to the wedding business. If taking advantage of the location and the view was not enough to lure you in, you'd be welcomed to view all the rooms and gardens you…can't have. You may expect to have a great time talking to the events and catering teams during the onsite visit, but as soon as you say yes – don't be surprised when (if your party is not big or long enough) this treatment stops.
Our wedding was supposed to be relatively small (35 people) and starting in the early evening. We talked through it with the events team and confirmed this would work well as another wedding (taking place in the other wing of the estate) would have finished their dinner by then. We confirmed and all that seemed to be left was to receive the final pricing package from Selsdon Estate folks. After multiple emails, 5 days later we received a call stating the other wedding's contract secures the exclusive use of the kitchen on the day.
Convenient? Would the catering manager who spoke to us on the day really not know this? Or have they done their calculations and figured out that an evening reception is not really a bang for buck?
I'll let you decide, if that's the level of service you want to risk if you ever decide to arrange any event with them… Meanwhile, we're back to square one (And minus 5 precious days we didn't look for alternative venues)
