Google Bad Review 1: Really bad experience. We had issues with the landlord who went MIA as soon as our tenancy came to an end and so we literally had no option but to take the landlord to court to claim back our deposit.
Got the court order, presented it to Chestertons as they are “the stakeholder” and hold the money – not only did they not accept it, saying that they “must wait for the landlord to appeal”, they were incredibly unhelpful, patronising and their e-mail responses felt like they are siding with the awful landlord. One of their employees sent us an e-mail low-key hinting that it was our fault that the money has not been returned to us saying that “…if the dispute was raised during the correct timeframe, we would have had our money by now” – everything was raised, dealt with and documented in the correct timeframe, but they just love shifting the blame.
Not only that was the issue- when they rented the flat to us, we signed an agreement with them that stated that the landlord will remove her things from the flat & professionally clean it. And of course nothing has been done when we checked in.
This agency has compliance issues, and we are now seeking legal advice in regards to their practises.
There are plenty of other good agencies in London to choose from, avoid this one.
