Google Bad Review 1:  Nuffield has only been associated with good things and quality services so when I was looking for a PCR test to travel I was confident when booking at Nuffield Health I was confident and at peace knowing I’d receive a quality service. Even better, the service was advertised as “government-approved Gold Standard PCR”.

Although the confirmation email advised me to arrive 5mins early I arrived in the area 40minutes early and decided to walk by to see where I’d be taking my test. I had planned to pop back later but after seeing a queue building I stayed.

Despite arriving 40mins early I was seen 20minutes after my appointment time. The testing centre was also understaffed. There was only one staff member registering patients details and taking swabs. By the time I was seen to the queue had built up to 20 people with a severe backlog.

I only booked this service because Nuffield have a good reputation. Unfortunately the service I received was well below what I’d expect to receive anywhere.

Google Bad Review 1:  I rung up and booked a squash court a week in advance – was advised that as neither of us were members we had to pay £15 each for a “day pass” to play squash. I said that I thought this was too expensive considering we were just going to use the squash courts – to which the person on the phone said that he would let us have the squash court for £20 (for both of us – so £10 each).

So my friend and I turned up on the day, having left work early to make the slot, and I explained that I had a court booked for 5pm. First of all there was no record that the squash court was booked, In fact I could see that there was tip-ex covering up whatever was written on the 5pm booking. However the tip-exed 5pm slot was not filled with anyone else so we were offered it, but were told we had to pay £15 each. I explained that we had made a deal with “Greg” the previous week over the phone, but were told that we were “mis-informed” and that “Greg had left his job”. This is hardly what one would like to encounter having made a legitimate deal in advance. The duty manger refused to even acknowledge, let alone honour,this agreement; which was disgraceful.

It wouldn't have cost the health centre anything to honour this agreement, in fact they actually would have had paying customers for an hour of simple squash. Had we then had a good game this could have turned into a weekly full price session or membership. Instead my friend and I had to spend our £20 at the local pub, which I can assure you had infinitely better customer service than this place.

Google Bad Review (2):  I have been a member of this gym for over a year. When I joined the gym was good and not very crowded. There were still some issues, such as a limited number of stretching mats, but overall it was good quality for central London. After the refurbishment last year, the quality of the experience has dropped drastically. There are new machines everywhere, for a total of 60 on the main floor. The logic of how these machines were picked is still not clear, since a lot of them are rarely used, while others are used constantly. Instead of providing more stretching areas, they reduced the stretching area to FIVE mats on top of a mezzanine (yes, that's right). The mats are all super close to each other, and when you exercise it is not unusual to accidentally hit the person next to you. The area is not relaxing at all, and people are forced to squeeze small mats right next to the machines if they don't want to wait 30 mins. The gym is also starting to get overcrowded, and they are still showing people around as if there was space for more members when that's obviously not the case.

The classes are generally good with some exceptions; there are some very good teachers (John and the gentleman teaching Pilates) but others are not very experienced/professional. The staff at the reception is generally nice.

I am not clear what Nuffield business model is, but it is simply not working for retaining people.

Google Bad Review 1:  I am a member at Nuffield bromley but it’s getting to the point were I will cancel my membership soon due to the terrible Maintenance. The spa has been broken for half a year now and half the water fountain’s don’t work. Other stuff in there is always going wrong and it seem like they don’t want to pay out to fix issues but are happy to charge high rates for memberships and in return give you terrible facilities.

Don't join as you will regret it after you buy your money as for the month of November the spa feiceltes broken down so you can't use the pool ,steam room ,sauna and the spa I asked to be refunded the month of November or to be credited for the month of December after they fixed the spa so rudely be rejected I escalated to head office and then done nothing about it so I needed to contact my bank to got my money back so safe your money and to avoid any headache look for an other gym group .

Google Bad Review 1:  Terrible place . Have been a member for roughly 3 years. I tried cancel my membership when I moved house , was told they could not cancel as I was still under contract and my new address has to be 5 + miles away from a Nuffield health and unfortunately my adress was exactly 5 miles away!! several emails later they are still refusing to cancel it. Petty I feel refusing over a matter of a few meters!!

They gym it’s self if very under equipped for the price of the membership. If you like to deadlift heavy you will be told off as it makes to much noise downstairs , they haven’t taken any action to solve in the time I have been a memeber. Very few weights machines and only one of most things so this can stuff your work out right up if someone else has the same plan as you.

There are no opening windows in the gym , and the air con is poor . The whole of last summer the air con was being ‘fixed’ and everytime you asked management when it will be sorted they didn’t know. Summer come back around and guess what a year on and the air con still isn’t up to standard . But they have provided two small fans to blow hot air around.

Very very rearly is new equipment bought and when it is , it’s not equipment that’s wanted / needed by the members , This is down to very poor management not knowing much about whats wanted or needed on the gym floor. I have filled in hundereds of the surveys and nothing ever gets changed.
The drinks fountains are the slowest things if you want to fill up a bottle you end up with a big queue behind you.

Some of the PTs are very good , others I have seen some very questionable stuff being taught . For the price they charge they should all be at offering best advice there is.

The one thing that has kept me a member for so long is that it’s very quite most of the time. But I believe this is down to them not being able to gain new members.

The changing rooms and jacuzzi looks nice at 1st but once you have used them for a while you start to realise not all the showers work 100% ,some the drain sinks below your feet others just remain either very hot or very cold no in between . Quite a few of them the door doesn’t shut properly . Everytime I get in the jacuzzi I a new tile comes off in my hand . The changing area is kept reasonly clean but it isn’t maintained very well.

Cafe is over priced and the food is adverage at best . Don’t waste your money on the smoothies and if you want a protein bar or a lucazade make sure youve got a small loan out.

Once they have you as a member you are stuck there!!! They have no interest in you just your money !!

Google Bad Review (2):  Being a member here which is my home club was amazing in 2018,2019 and 2020. Haven’t been back since 1st lockdown, however still paying my memebership that expired in July 31st 2021.

I visited Nuffields Chislehurst in Aug 10th 2021 for the first time in a while, before renewing my membership would like a free day pass to see if things has changed but been asked to pay £15 for entry.

Staff has been changed now and the previous staff were more friendly and more welcoming. I know if it was the previous staff I would of got looked after which will help me consider rejoining Nuffields.

After this situation I will never visit any Nuffields health anymore because it feels like I been robbed for 30mins use of the gym.

So I signed up to Virgin Active Mayfair the next day

And I got to tell you this place still feels exactly the same from when I left this place. Despite the new faces of employees from management and familiar faces for personal trainers, I feel there is no change in management or improvements whatsoever in any area. The new employees are lovely people, that's legitimately the only good thing about this gym. Nothing has changed otherwise. The kind of service they are currently providing do not match up to the money we are paying them. I feel I've been robbed unwillingly. Below is a review I wrote 1 year ago when I first joined from June 2017 – may 2018. Not a massive improvement any way.

Terrible experience. Broken equipment never gets fixed. Just more break downs day by day. Terrible customer service. Specially the women at the counter. Do not have high hopes of your request being solved.

Overpriced and charges extra despite not using the gym at all.

I repeat do not join this branch gym.

Google Bad Review 1:  **Worst gym in the area – needs a MAJOR upgrade**

It hasn’t been updated at all in over 10 years and it really shows. The equipment is all from the 90’s, a lot of it is majorly rusty, dirty, unusable and actually quite dangerous. On top of this, the air conditioning doesn’t even work, so don’t even think about visiting on a hot day.

I voiced my concerns and suggestions for improvements to the manager who stopped replying to me – they don’t care about you as the customer.

I travel a lot for work using gyms all around the world and have been a member at many gyms in the area and this is clearly the worst. For a nearly £100 per month membership, it’s crazy. Nuffield should really be embarrassed. There are £25 gyms within a 5 minute drive that are a lot better.

On top of this, there are no toilets on the gym floor – you have to walk down two levels of the building to get to them.

Google Bad Review (2):  I'm giving a star for the only reason that they have 1 amazing, kind, hardworking lady who works at the reception I think named Pav, she literally shows no attitude compared to the rest of the team. Oliver another worker is a decent fella, hard working as well. Now to the sticky bit, these guys are absolute jokers, will try and put the problem always onto you in regards to memebsrship, there easy to sign you up, when your ready to leave they delay everything, also threaten that if you cancel your direct debit you'll be in debt with them. The gym is really unpleasant, the men's changing rooms are disgusting, with bogey on sinks, flem from men coughing being visible, a lot of people are not really clean, they would literally have a shave/cut their hair in the changing room and then leave the hair on the sink and go wash themselves in the pool or jacuzzi, the equipment upstairs is very limited, hardly much cardio equipment, if there is. The equipment is very old and tacky, lastly I WILL repeat the behind the desk team are really rude and unhelpful except the one amazing colleague Pav, I believe she should run this place herself. Website falsely advertising “Free Towels” as one of the selling points.

Pitches itself as a premium £65 per month gym but acts like a budget one.

Rusted old machines and filthy equipment. People are no longer using sweat towels so you can imagine what it's like. Check the pics for real illustration of what the equipment looks like rather than fancy pics of when the equipment was new (many many years ago I might add).

In response to your reply below you have done nothing but admit that you are failing most customers needs as “most average 1.7 towels per visit”.

Will move to Bannatynes in due course which provide towels without charge and have recently undergone a major refurbishment.

Missing dumbbells are not replaced, hooks and equipment are frequently stolen, machines are often broken, we’re advised to not to leave anything of value in the locker room, etc.

The gym is also dirty and poorly maintained.

There’s no indoor shoe policy, and most people use the machines and different equipment without ever using a towel, and obviously, no one cleans their sweat after leaving their seat.

I go there because I don’t have any other option, since it’s the only gym near me that opens at 6am, and I can only go before work.

Not recommended. Avoid this place if possible.
