Google Bad Review 1:  I absolutely would not recommend D&G for short lets. Due to severe flooding we were in one of their flats for less than 2 months. At the end of our time, we were hit with £700+ charges for absolutely minimal damages (e.g. a small scratch to a chair and splash marks on a wall). We had no WiFi for the majority of our occupancy, and building works were ongoing. We were charged for a full professional clean on check-out despite the fact that the flat was covered in building dust when we arrived. I'm sure the landlord was very happy (we suspect a chuck of the money went towards fixing damage from a serious leak which began on our first day in the flat). We, however, were not. Expect friendly, responsive service until you sign on the dotted line – after that, you won't hear from them until they send you an inflated bill.

Google Bad Review (2):  I had a bad experience with Douglas & Gordon in Pimlico last year. I was very keen on renting a flat I saw online and ensured I was the very first person to see it. I told the agent present that I was going to contact her about making an offer later in the day, expressing my urgency. Less than 2 hours later (after checking with my husband), I emailed her to say I wanted to make the offer, and requested that she send me the paperwork ASAP. I also sent her text messages in case she wasn't checking her email, which I saw she had ‘read' almost immediately. I did not hear from her, and the next morning she called to say someone else had offered on the flat, and the offer had been accepted. To this day, they have not been able to provide me with a reasonable explanation of what happened, and have continuously obscured the facts.

The most horrific part of this story was when I suggested there might be discrimination involved (I had asked whether the landlord did not want a person of colour living there) the agent got upset and defensive, and her manager later called me and very aggressively told me he ‘did not approve of' me bringing up the discrimination point – I'm sorry Michael, this is not something you have a right to ‘approve' or ‘disapprove' of – it is a very viable possible reason for my exclusion from the offer process. And ‘discrimination' is exactly what I experienced: being actively ‘left out' of the process for no clear reason, not being kept abreast of what was going on, not having my messages responded to, not being given an equal opportunity to put in an offer, not having the agent representing me looking out for me.

It took me over a year to post this review because of how intimidated I felt through the experience.

Google Bad Review 1:  Puzzled by reviews – my experience was broadly negative. Tried to buy a flat through them. After offer was accepted, the estate agent, Stephanie Pudner and Sara Lowry did not respond to emails, never called back when I left messages. And never informed me when the seller withdrew from the sale before exchange, which seemed like an important piece of information to pass on. This happened after having done the survey and all the conveyancing and mortgage paperwork had been done. As a first time buyer – it was certainly a learning curve and I would be cautious before dealing with them in the future. They also didn't follow up to try and help me find anything else. Bizarre and disappointing treatment considering the amount of money lost.

**in response to Chestertons (below): To clarify: An exchange falling through happens, and that's annoying. What's disappointing is being ghosted by the estate agent and seller's solicitor at the set date of exchange, instead of simply being informed. Stephanie Pudner and Sara Lowry also, to this date, have not returned messages from my solicitor about return of contracts. This is a reflection of their unprofessional approach I dealt with throughout my attempted buy. They of course never followed up after.

Google Bad Review (2):  Did not help out, multiple times, with noise and dust pollution complaints including out of hours construction work and immediately forgot our interests (tenants with them for 4 years) in FAIRLY keeping our deposit once we moved out of the property. It is understandable they are trying to please their current client, the landlord, as they want him to continue listing his property with them, but the way in which they have tried to extort two students has been nothing short of dishonest and simply unfair.

After being their client for four years (then treated badly once we decide not to renew with them), we wrongly expected some sort of loyalty or at least a fair process for the check-out. Received neither and were also refused access to necessary information to raise a dispute with the Tenancy Deposit Scheme.

After being with them for four years, it is safe to say as a tenant, you are better off looking at other companies such as Foxtons who have gone out of their way to help us out with our dispute, as they immediately deemed it unfair on behalf of the landlord, and the lettings agent for blindly protecting their client, and unfairly treating their former clients.

Google Bad Review 1:  I absolutely would not recommend D&G for short lets. Due to severe flooding we were in one of their flats for less than 2 months. At the end of our time, we were hit with £700+ charges for absolutely minimal damages (e.g. a small scratch to a chair and splash marks on a wall). We had no WiFi for the majority of our occupancy, and building works were ongoing. We were charged for a full professional clean on check-out despite the fact that the flat was covered in building dust when we arrived. I'm sure the landlord was very happy (we suspect a chuck of the money went towards fixing damage from a serious leak which began on our first day in the flat). We, however, were not. Expect friendly, responsive service until you sign on the dotted line – after that, you won't hear from them until they send you an inflated bill.

Google Bad Review (2):  I had a bad experience with Douglas & Gordon in Pimlico last year. I was very keen on renting a flat I saw online and ensured I was the very first person to see it. I told the agent present that I was going to contact her about making an offer later in the day, expressing my urgency. Less than 2 hours later (after checking with my husband), I emailed her to say I wanted to make the offer, and requested that she send me the paperwork ASAP. I also sent her text messages in case she wasn't checking her email, which I saw she had ‘read' almost immediately. I did not hear from her, and the next morning she called to say someone else had offered on the flat, and the offer had been accepted. To this day, they have not been able to provide me with a reasonable explanation of what happened, and have continuously obscured the facts.

The most horrific part of this story was when I suggested there might be discrimination involved (I had asked whether the landlord did not want a person of colour living there) the agent got upset and defensive, and her manager later called me and very aggressively told me he ‘did not approve of' me bringing up the discrimination point – I'm sorry Michael, this is not something you have a right to ‘approve' or ‘disapprove' of – it is a very viable possible reason for my exclusion from the offer process. And ‘discrimination' is exactly what I experienced: being actively ‘left out' of the process for no clear reason, not being kept abreast of what was going on, not having my messages responded to, not being given an equal opportunity to put in an offer, not having the agent representing me looking out for me.

It took me over a year to post this review because of how intimidated I felt through the experience.

Google Bad Review 1:  Puzzled by reviews – my experience was broadly negative. Tried to buy a flat through them. After offer was accepted, the estate agent, Stephanie Pudner and Sara Lowry did not respond to emails, never called back when I left messages. And never informed me when the seller withdrew from the sale before exchange, which seemed like an important piece of information to pass on. This happened after having done the survey and all the conveyancing and mortgage paperwork had been done. As a first time buyer – it was certainly a learning curve and I would be cautious before dealing with them in the future. They also didn't follow up to try and help me find anything else. Bizarre and disappointing treatment considering the amount of money lost.

**in response to Chestertons (below): To clarify: An exchange falling through happens, and that's annoying. What's disappointing is being ghosted by the estate agent and seller's solicitor at the set date of exchange, instead of simply being informed. Stephanie Pudner and Sara Lowry also, to this date, have not returned messages from my solicitor about return of contracts. This is a reflection of their unprofessional approach I dealt with throughout my attempted buy. They of course never followed up after.

Google Bad Review (2):  Did not help out, multiple times, with noise and dust pollution complaints including out of hours construction work and immediately forgot our interests (tenants with them for 4 years) in FAIRLY keeping our deposit once we moved out of the property. It is understandable they are trying to please their current client, the landlord, as they want him to continue listing his property with them, but the way in which they have tried to extort two students has been nothing short of dishonest and simply unfair.

After being their client for four years (then treated badly once we decide not to renew with them), we wrongly expected some sort of loyalty or at least a fair process for the check-out. Received neither and were also refused access to necessary information to raise a dispute with the Tenancy Deposit Scheme.

After being with them for four years, it is safe to say as a tenant, you are better off looking at other companies such as Foxtons who have gone out of their way to help us out with our dispute, as they immediately deemed it unfair on behalf of the landlord, and the lettings agent for blindly protecting their client, and unfairly treating their former clients.

Google Bad Review 1:  Puzzled by reviews – my experience was broadly negative. Tried to buy a flat through them. After offer was accepted, the estate agent, Stephanie Pudner and Sara Lowry did not respond to emails, never called back when I left messages. And never informed me when the seller withdrew from the sale before exchange, which seemed like an important piece of information to pass on. This happened after having done the survey and all the conveyancing and mortgage paperwork had been done. As a first time buyer – it was certainly a learning curve and I would be cautious before dealing with them in the future. They also didn't follow up to try and help me find anything else. Bizarre and disappointing treatment considering the amount of money lost.

**in response to Chestertons (below): To clarify: An exchange falling through happens, and that's annoying. What's disappointing is being ghosted by the estate agent and seller's solicitor at the set date of exchange, instead of simply being informed. Stephanie Pudner and Sara Lowry also, to this date, have not returned messages from my solicitor about return of contracts. This is a reflection of their unprofessional approach I dealt with throughout my attempted buy. They of course never followed up after.

Google Bad Review (2):  Did not help out, multiple times, with noise and dust pollution complaints including out of hours construction work and immediately forgot our interests (tenants with them for 4 years) in FAIRLY keeping our deposit once we moved out of the property. It is understandable they are trying to please their current client, the landlord, as they want him to continue listing his property with them, but the way in which they have tried to extort two students has been nothing short of dishonest and simply unfair.

After being their client for four years (then treated badly once we decide not to renew with them), we wrongly expected some sort of loyalty or at least a fair process for the check-out. Received neither and were also refused access to necessary information to raise a dispute with the Tenancy Deposit Scheme.

After being with them for four years, it is safe to say as a tenant, you are better off looking at other companies such as Foxtons who have gone out of their way to help us out with our dispute, as they immediately deemed it unfair on behalf of the landlord, and the lettings agent for blindly protecting their client, and unfairly treating their former clients.
