Google Bad Review:  TL;DR – In ten years they are the worst recruitment agency i've had to work through.

Well where do i start with Explore group..

I was put across for a contract on a standard (if not a bit low) day rate. When i was offered the job i was then told in order for me to get the role they had to offer me below the original day rate in order to secure it.They then said if my contract was extended they could up my day rate, as this always happens with the agency they placed me at.

Which turned out not to be true, i was the only candidate that they wanted for the role, there was no determining factor to do with day rate. I didn't know this until i was in the role.There was no conversation about having to lower my rate.

My contract was then extended, Great i thought, i can finally get a decent day rate. I raised this with HR in the agency i was working in and she was very surprised to head this as (and i know) this is really uncommon for a freelancer to ask for a pay rise. We had a discussion about my rates, their fees and what i was actually being paid. Turns out Explore were skimming a larger amount than average off my day rate and were also charging the agency double fees for the 3 months period.

The final blow by these guy's though was simply deciding to not pay me over the Christmas and new year period. A time when money is tight for most people and can really sway how you end up spending your time over this year. If there was a new payment schedule, they didn't share it, they didn't reply to emails before the Christmas break either and then low and behold like i expected from them they missed payment. I did get a reply from someone who was out of the country .. (probably enjoying Christmas more than i was at this point) but would look into it and get back to me ASAP. I can appreciate they were having an amazing time but i needed to get paid, i incurred overdraft fees and at this rate looked likely the money for my rent was going to be late. Their response was lacking, they confirmed that there was an error (i had figured this out myself..) and seemed to try shift the blame to myself and the agency i had been working for. Timesheets were approved on time and my bank account details hadn't magically been changed recently.

So still i have no update on when i will be paid, why i wasn't paid or what they plan on doing for my late fees i'll incur on my side. Oh only that someone will be back in touch on Thursday once they are in the office. So thanks guy's, great effort there.

If anything i'll be starting 2020 broke but it does mean i will not be working with these lazy, dishonest people again, and i hope others read this before accepting a role with explore.
