Google Bad Review 1:  Really disappointed 🙁 I wanted something sweet and paid £2.75 for a mediocre cherry bakewell. As I paid, didn't get a smile, a hello, a thank you and the server just shouted instructions to her colleague whilst ignoring me. Will not be back…And will be telling my friends to avoid!

Google Bad Review (2):  I’ve been going to the Little Bakers since I was a kid. I first went in for silly smiley face cakes and gingerbread men, later in life for lunch snacks and the occasional big cake. I was very sad when it closed down but was optimistic for the new launch, as it was starting to fall apart and behind the market.

The site that opened was simply put a trainwreck. As a small business owner myself I admired them for trying to do something new, but wish they had done some research. They sold an artisanal food menu that they’d produced with the cheapest ingredients they could get. They had third wave coffee prices but used beans you wouldn’t give to your worst enemy. They had baked goods on offer that had sat out all night and tasted like cardboard. In short, they pretended to be something they were not, and the fatigued staff who had made the swap from the old business struggled to keep any customers.

Their new design looked like they had learnt from their mistakes. Gone was the cringey graffiti sign, and now there is the simple classy ‘Camden Bakery’. Again I became optimistic that they had learnt from their mistakes. Sadly though, I went in today for their opening and it’s clear things are worse than ever.

The space itself is still laid out like a restaurant, so you walk in and feel like you should wait to be seated or that you’d be rude to walk straight up to the bar. The food is scattered throughout the seating area, which feels grimy when you’ve just stepped off bustling camden high street. The staff stand behind the bar with their backs to the door, but when they looked over at me it was clear that they wished I would just eff off. I approached the bar, meandered around looking for something to buy, and was treated to a very hostile ‘What?’ from the girl behind the bar. I talked to her briefly, but a conversation was like getting blood from a stone. She was outright rude. I couldn’t believe the owners/managers weren’t around for their opening day, and when I asked if they were the girl got even more aggressive. I left without buying anything because it was clear I wasn’t welcome. Me and my team are based in the area, spending around £10 per day each minimum on our lunches and brunches, and there is no way we will be coming in until they fix their quality, their service, and just put some effort in.

When it closes down again I can only hope someone will take over and take it seriously.
