Google Bad Review (2):  Unprofessional treatment of potential tenants. Not trustworthy.

We had an agreed lease for a flat in London. The agency sent me a contract on Saturday noon with the request to send back the contract and to make a deposit until Monday 9am. They tried to call me on Saturday noon where I was unable to attend the call. I called them back twice on Saturday afternoon where no one picked up the phone.

On Monday at 12 I send them back the contract and tried to contact them again, without any luck. On Monday evening 22pm I received an email telling me that I did not meet the 9am deadline on Monday morning and that they have decided to give the flat to someone else.
It goes without saying that an international wire transfer is impossible to make over the weekend and that I have not received any follow up call from them.
I tried to solve this issue via email, but the answer I received basically was that it was my own fault and that I should not be complaining.

Furthermore and without my permission I was added to a mailing list from which up until now I still receive offers from this agency. It goes without saying that I never signed up to be on the distribution list and that I have tried unsuccessfully to unsubscribe.

Google Bad Review 1:  Paul Phelan is the most useless property manager and should not be in charge of any account.

While we were in the property, he failed to attend to numerous important maintenance requests and after we vacated the property he has ignored all emails and calls about returning our deposit or notifying utility companies of the change of tenants. It has taken 4 months and a dispute resolution application with MyDeposits to get our deposit back — and even then we are still missing money owed. He is completely unresponsive and unreachable and has absolutely no grasp of how to do even the basics of his job.

If Paul Phelan is managing the property you let or own, run in the opposite direction.

Google Bad Review (2):  We took a Short Let through Kate at Foxtons West End Lane and had an agreement with her that they would speak to us and offer for us to extend before offering the flat to anyone else. Just before Christmas they then let the flat we were living in to someone else without speaking with us or writing to us, breaking the agreement they had with us. Despite the fact that numerous other Foxtons agents called us to try and offer us alternatives, no one in Foxtons management took responsibility for the way they treated us. Do not deal with these people.

Google Bad Review 1:  I had a great intitial impression of Open Homes. My boyfriend and I were looking for a place in Colindale, and the staff was very friendly and willing to help. They came across a property that we were very interested in, but they were trying to figure out finances and such (because I'm a student, and an American one at that, it is really hard to demonstrate a UK guarantor). The staff seemed really eager to help us out, but days had gone by with no updates. Not once did I hear from them, even when I called multiple times and visited yet another time in person. They always promised to call me back, and that never happened. Because of this, we had to move on and scout for other properties, and to my disappointment I receive a call 2 weeks after our initial visit to ask if we were still looking! It seemed like they totally forgot who I was and everything had fallen through the cracks. I'm severely disappointed with Open Homes. I really don't know what happened.

Google Bad Review (2):  Didn't really had good experience with them, very unreliable and inefficient, i had to keep chasing them up about my deposit which they owe me for few months and after the tenant moved out my apartment had a brand new unused washing machine stolen with no sign of breaking or force entry, i immediately took back my keys and used another letting agency round the corner (Lock8 Estate) which they are fantastic.

Google Bad Review (2):  I can't believe Winkworth Hendon are still in business.
The staff and managers are just useless.
I give them my property and they promise me the world and once I had returned my papers, 4 weeks on, I've heard nothing.
I agree with the other reviews on here. I never write them but felt I had to and sympathy goes to anyone who uses them. Luckily I am coming out of my contract as I wanted to leave but was told I couldn't- they had me. Well no more, I'm taking my business elsewhere.

Emailed them twice again called again nothing

Then I knew my name was the problem

Not the only agency though most of them big ones would decide about you the minute you give them your name

Google Bad Review 1:  Well very disappointing service . : the letting agent sales service as far as arranging visits is good. After you choose a property then give the initial deposit the sales man seems to disappear. My first experience was last year when I gave the deposit for a flat to rent then they pulled back : and returned the deposit after a lot of chasing up.
Just 10 days ago I chose another flat gir which I gave a deposit and now the letting person cannot be contacted . Niobe firm the office is bother to get in touch with me. I had filled in all their online forms for the flat paid gge deposit too.
I really do not know the status: my deposit is held again and no contract in sight.
Very frustrating experience trying to get hold of the right person .

We advertised our home through them for more than 2 months during which time despite using the price they recommended (and then the drop they told us to do because their initial estimate was wrong) we had 2 viewings. Set this aside though and the real problem is the lack of professionalism, they say they'll call and don't, they lose your keys, they lose some of the photos they took and very soon you lose the will to live. When I wanted to list I got to speak to the branch manager but as soon as I had signed the contract I was handed over to more junior staff and found that when things went wrong I couldn't get hold of her and she never returned my calls or emails. When challenged they blame the pandemic for much of this but it's just down to them being disorganised and unprofessional. Do yourself a massive favour and choose anyone and I mean anyone else

Google Bad Review 1:  Kicked us out during a pandemic and threatened to change the locks when we were away, don't go with them unless youreouyou're desperate and want your rights as a tenant and your freedom completely trodden on.

Google Bad Review (2):  If you are a landlord looking to let your property, look for another letting agent. If you are a future tenant, look for another letting agent.

As a tenant in one of their “fully managed” properties, bills went constantly unpaid resulting in services frequently being cut and for the tenants to have to pay the bills themselves – which Peppiatt then dragged their feet to reimburse. Middle of winter and the gas is cut and the house is without heating, hot water for cleaning, and cooking facilities for 4 days. Not even an apology from Peppiatt. They also pay lip service to dealing with problem tenants, leaving the rest of a household to have to put with the problem until the landlord assumes responsibility and evicts them.

They were so bad as a managed agent the landlord kicked them out. Too many breaches of our own contracts. Best decision he made.

But now their legacy carries on. Since lockdown we discovered even the broadband was not paid which has resulted in services being cut. With a large majority of the household having to work from home, this has caused a major issue with every person having to incur extra costs. They didn't even have the common decency to advise us that we were about to have broadband cut and give us an option to try to deflect a problem.
We cannot get another service brought in because Peppiatt owe over £600 to Virgin . We are blacklisted because of Peppiatt and I've personally had to pay out over £300 in extra data costs all because of Peppiatt. And now we are starting to get visits from bayliffs and court agents seeking payment for unpaid bills.

There is a strong probability that their own actions will impact the landlords and our own credit ratings. Avoid giving your business to these people at all costs. Wholly unprofessional and likely to respond to this posting with denials on all counts, but my eyes and my experiences do not lie. Give your business to others more worthy.

Google Bad Review 1:  The first meeting with Nicky the Manager seemed to be a positive experience. I encouraged my fiancé to use their services after meeting with two other estate agents in the area. However, from that moment on the experience went downhill. Nicky had no involvement in the sale of the property. There was no care taken when viewings took place in the property. A number of times returning to find all the lights left on in the flat and sometimes this would have been across a weekend while we were away. Even my house cat was shut in a room so he could not access his water and litter tray by them. The whole experience felt like Hetheringtons did not have our best interest at heart. Mark was very patronising and condescending at times. Not listening and talking over you. Debbie even got involved in contacting the owners of the property we were looking to purchase without our permission to negotiate a longer period for them to wait for us to sell our property. We were about to take our property off the market with them and to instruct a new agent. When we had two offers made and we went for the ones with no chain. This took a period of 6 months and every time we asked why the purchaser wasn’t progressing. It was always blamed on our solicitor who they recommended us to use. It became clear after some time that Hetheringtons had not undertaken the proper financial checks on our purchaser which was the main reason for the delay. After putting pressure on for some time. I was then told we should start showing other people the property. We then gave a hard deadline to complete by which pushed the sale through. It was a stressful experience with daily calls being made to Hetheringtons. I would not sell with them again or recommend them to our family and friends. As well as in a professional capacity when we often get asked by our clients who we would recommend for selling their houses.

Google Bad Review 1:  My landlord instructed them to market my flat. I explained really politely that we have a newborn baby at home, and due to the COVID outbreak, we will not be letting anyone in.

Jack then replies saying they will insist on access, and use the key while I am out if necessary. Due to the fact that the law says that my parents are not allowed to come and visit their first grand child, on WHAT PLANET is it acceptable to try and insist on complete strangers going into the flat?!?!?

I re iterated that no one will come round, and to Jack's credit he did drop the issue… however he then sent a followup email asking me to arrange a personal clean, or they will make a deduction from my deposit to pay for it. First of all, I didn't rent through Chancellors, so why they think they have any say over my deposit is beyond me. Secondly, a clean was not paid for when we moved in. It would have taken Jack all of about 3 seconds to check this.

So quick to threaten me TWICE when I was nothing but calm and polite in my initial email saying I dont want to put my newborn at risk during a global pandemic. The sheer disregard for fellow human beings is astonishing frankly. “all in this together” indeed…..
