Google Bad Review (2): It was half empty at lunch time, on a Sunday.
All other dog friendly pubs in the area were full so we'd thought we would give this place a chance.
Initial thoughts. Pretentious, too cool to acknowledge us when we walked in. Had to get someones attention to be seated for food.
Although it claims to be, it is not very dog friendly. We were seated at a sticky, grubby table with our tiny dog. Before we could get him to settle and sleep on our coat which we laid on top of the bench, a rather rude man came marching over and shouted at us in a jobsworth manner to keep the dog on the floor for hygiene reasons!
Don't make me laugh! This is a grubby little pub, not the classy establishment it desperately wants to be! This would be more believable if the table was clean to begin with. Clearly this man is not cut out for the service industry.
There are plenty of other establishments in the area to spend my money. Another local establishment welcomed us warmly and had no issue with us having our little dog sit on one of their plush armchairs next to us while we dined.
Follow up to The Engineers' response:
My review and rating reflects the service we received. I am and have been happy to put my dog on the floor at other establishments. My issue is in the way things were handled.
To clarify, I stated that my dog did not have the chance to settle on the coat which was laid on top of the bench. Your team member marched over and shouted at us to KEEP THE DOG ON THE FLOOR before we had the chance to get him to settle down or even order food and drinks.
He is a tiny 6 month old puppy who was very excited to be out and about so he did put his front paws on the edge of the table as he was too small to peer over it. This is not the same as having the entire dog sat on top the table as you implied. Common sense and customer service could have avoided this. A quiet word and a little patience was all it would have taken.
You say you have bowls of water and treats for dogs at your establishment? We were not offered either of those. Perhaps they are only offered to patrons who fit the image of your ideal clientele? Read in to it what you will. The group of ladies sat next us were horrified at the way we were treated.
