Google Good Review:  Had very productive visit today. From the receptionist to the lovely ladies in the search room, they were all very helpful.

Google Bad Review:  This is to alert anyone thinking about using the archive at the present time (December 2014) that the lift is not simply out of order today, but has been unavailable for over a week with no end in sight. Also, while it is always cold in the search room, lately it is so cold that users and staff alike are wearing their overcoats while on the fifth floor. The ground floor is reasonably warm, but the search room is the reason for going to the archive, and it is polar. I really pity the staff having to work in these conditions day in and day out. They are forced to go up and down multiple floors to the file storage areas many times a day, not just once up in the morning and then down at night.

I have been using the archive for years now and am grateful for its availability. The staff are patient and always pleasant, as well as very knowledgible. If I were their employer (i.e., the City of Westminster), I would value them enough to provide them with better working conditions than they currently enjoy.
