Google Bad Review 1: I never write bad reviews, but I feel the obligation to warn other customers from the worst experience I've ever had with any professional. It's not only the bad unprofessional work which has left me £1,500 poorer with a need to pay again for another roofer to actually repair the roof after George neglected to do so, but also the fact that he flat out LIED to me, took the money and refused to come back to repair the leaks that he's left unrepaired. Integrity is the most important thing and I feel that I was scammed and lied to.
I first contacted George Ryan after reading all the positive reviews here. I had a few leaks on my roof and I needed an urgent repair. George was very responsive at first, gave me a quote for a thorough repair, cleaning the gutters, etc. He asked for £1,500 and added that any additional small repairs will not be charged. He promised to leave the roof in a perfect condition with guarantee. Well, giving promises is easy, I guess.
At the date of the appointment he simply failed to arrive. I had to chase him over the phone for hours until he finally answered, but didn't arrived. He just seemed to have forgotten. I wasted a full day of waiting for him. I decided to give him another chance and we rescheduled.
At the day of the rescheduled work, he arrived with a team of 2 guys, but he never bothered to go to the roof himself. Two minutes after arriving he claimed that he had a family emergency and had to go. After he left I asked the guys where did he go and they said that he had another job in a nearby neighbourhood. After lying to me and leaving, I never saw him again. A professional who lies is a huge red flag.
One of the guys went to the roof, the other was just watching him from the ground the whole time. I'm not sure what he did up there for a couple of hours, but the outcome was that the leaks on the roof haven't been repaired at all. After they left I continued to experience leaks, as if nothing has changed at all. I tried to call George several times since, but he refused to come back to repair. He was only nice in order to get the job, but completely unresponsive after he received his payment. I believe that he knew that the job wasn't done properly and he had zero intentions on fulfilling his promises for guarantee.
I paid George £1,500, but had to pay again for another roofer to actually repair the roof. George sent me a link to write a review (I guess that this is how he's got so many reviews over here), so here is me sharing my honest awful experience. I assume that all the other people he scammed feel uncomfortable sharing their bad experience online, I felt the same, but I also feel obligated to warn others. If you value your money and want to hire an honest roofer who would actually do the job and you could trust, please find someone else.
