Google Bad Review 1: BEWARE OF THIS BUILDING COMPANY. They were given consent to work on our neighbour’s building by erecting scaffold on our adjoining building.
As a result of their incompetence and negligence and failure to employ a foreman or site supervisor, the following occurred:
Their scaffolders damaged our building and interfered with the retail business
They failed to ensure that there was debris netting on the scaffold and when it was eventually provided it was not tied within the toe boards so it was ineffectual. Part of a brick fell into a child’s pushchair from their scaffold
They failed to place plastic sheeting on the scaffold boards or protect the rainwater outlets to stop debris falling on to the roof or into the drainpipe
They failed to supervise workmen on site who were repointing brickwork and who carelessly allowed cement to fall into the rainwater outlet and drainpipe. The company then denied that re- pointing work had started!
When told of what was happening they swept the debris under the scaffold boards to hide it from view and probably swept some into the drainpipe because it was blocked and caused rainwater flooding to the first floor flat below and damage to the ground floor business premises below the flat. The drainpipe had to be severed to clear the blockage and black sludge sprayed over the white painted walls on the ground floor.
An associate company dishonestly implied that they partly covered the rainwater outlet when there was no cover at all. They also claimed that the drain was “clear and free flowing” after sweeping the roof. Either the drain was not clear or the roof was not cleared of debris as they claimed and the drain subsequently blocked when the debris was washed down by the rain.
Finlay had undertaken to provide netting on the scaffold and to protect rainwater outlets and downpipes but they cannot be trusted to comply with their obligations or even to take reasonable care.
