Google Bad Review: I visited this pharmacy in order to see if I needed to book an appointment to get my ears syringed. The pharmacist (a tall man with a grey beard) offered to ‘take a quick look’ in the consultation room. Having asked me to wear the mask provided, I went in and the pharmacist spent approximately 10 seconds looking in my ears and a further minute telling me I didn't need them syringed. He then advised I should buy some eardrops, which I agreed to, prior to him then advising me the cost would be £28: £8 for the eardrops and £20 for the consultation. I advised the pharmacist that I wasn't aware there was a cost to check if treatment would be required – considering his ‘take a quick look' terminology prior to entering into his consultation room. He then told me the mask he had provided was an extra £1! You couldn't make it up. I would rather have pineapples growing out of my ears than revist this dated, gloomy establishment. Will be reporting to the General Pharmaceutical Council.
UPDATE: In response to your reply, perhaps you should also train your staff to advise on costs associated with services offered instead of misleading them, as well as signpost these in your pharmacy. As I rightly thought when you were commanding me to pay, we did not enter into a mutual contract, therefore you had no right to demand payment so aggressively, prior to telling me to ‘just get out'. It is a shame your failure to act appropriately and within the guidelines of the law, doubled by your unacceptable, rude behaviour, has resulted in a complaint to trading standards as well as the GPC. If you were a little more cordial there wouldn't have been a need. I do hope you learn from your mistakes and revise your service offerings accordingly for the sake of others who may be more vulnerable when inquiring as to your services – especially those who may not be able to afford being forced to pay for what is essentially a non-binding contract of services in the eyes of UK consumer law.
