Google Bad Review: Had to wait 15 mins before the 9.30 service had finished before we could go into church. No one really chatted or made eye contact. Once the morning service was done, there was a rush for those waiting to go in and those coming out, so there wasn’t a clear ‘welcome team' as such. I sat fairly close to the front for another 15 mins before the service started. 2 people came to say welcome and shook my hand. No one sat in the row in front or behind me (or even on my row) so felt very exposed. I would say the church was half full with people spread out over 200 seats, so felt much emptier. Music group started the service with 3 upbeat songs lead by 1 singer and 5 backing singers, drummer and keyboard. She did her best to rouse the congregation, but got the impression they were not responding. The minister stood and prayed, did notices thank the church for hi holiday abroad and introduced the guest speaker was form America. He preached like a Pentecostal minister, loud, fast and unashamedly. The children slipped out with notice or being prayer for.
From my experience, elim is a Pentecostal church that almost wants to be like a mega church in style (they way worship is led, there are no formal prayers, the minister sings through his mike and leads the pace of the songs and worship. and who is very charismatic.) people travel from all over east London, but it doesn’t have a friendly family feel.
